SSC CHSL exam is a national level exam, which is conducted to recruit the posts of Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Data Entry Operator (DEO), Postal Assistants/ Sorting Assistants (PA/SA) across several central government departments and ministries. To clear the exam, the aspirants must check the syllabus and exam pattern thoroughly. They must study from the recommended books only.
SSC CHSL consists of two levels known as tiers.
Tier 1 - Computer-based online Test (MCQ-type)
Tier 2 - Pen and Paper Test
SSC CHSL: Tier 1 Preparation Tips:
In order to qualify, you have to meet the SSC CHSL cutoff marks required for tier 1 and tier 2. Following are some important tips for preparing for this exam.
English Language:
Read and practice at least one comprehension per day as it is a vital part of the English section.
For the cloze test, try and understand the logic behind the passage and what the most suitable phrase for the blank seems. If you fill one blank correctly, you can find the answers for the rest easily.
Read the entire passage once. After that, practice reading the question first and then looking up the passage for the answer- it will be quicker.
For synonyms and antonyms, practice new sets of words every day by referring to the dictionary or making notes of words you hear or read around you.
It is wise to clear your understanding of basic grammar rules to get a good score in the English section.
All the aspirants are advised to read newspapers every day so that they can improve their vocabulary knowledge.
General Intelligence and Reasoning:
The general intelligence section consists of both verbal and non-verbal type questions. This section is comparatively time-consuming and to get a good ace, the candidates should check their accuracy and speed to complete this section. In addition, the aspirants should work on the difficulty level of the questions. To make it simpler, the candidates should categorise it into easy, medium, and complex. Keep practicing the puzzles and number games to get habituated with such questions.
Pick specific topics at a time and solve them till you are fluent in understanding these specific types of problems.

Quantitative Aptitude
To ace this section, the aspirants are required to improve their basic arithmetic skills. Apart from this, to improve the speed, the candidates should follow the below-mentioned tips:
*Memorize the multiplication table up to 25
*Try to remember the list of squares and cubes from 1 to 25.
*Memorize all the formulas relevant to your syllabus.
*Learn the short tips and tricks to solve the questions in a shorter time.
*Practice mental calculation and avoid using calculators.
*Learn the common percentages and their fractional and decimal equivalents.
Questions are of usually similar nature each year. Hence, analyzing them can be a good option.
General Awareness and Knowledge:
Read the newspapers daily to stay updated about current affairs.
Subscribe to current affairs magazines like Manorama.
Watch the national news channels as well.
Specifically take note of topics related to Business, Politics, and Economics.
SSC CHSL: Tier 2 Preparation Tips:
SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam dates are released for candidates who qualify in Tier 1 exam. It is a descriptive type test where candidates are supposed to write their answers in the answer sheet provided. Hence, Candidates are advised to keep practicing answer writing at home.Try to avoid exceeding the word count of the essay and letter.
Do not repeat the information throughout your writing and focus on your neat handwriting.
To build critical thinking skills and vocabulary, the aspirants should read editorials columns from reputed newspapers.
Keep yourself updated with the current events happening in society.
Make sure that there is no grammatical error in your writing.
For static topics, candidates are advised to refer to the standard books and answer the question provided.
For the dynamic part, candidates should keep reading the newspaper and form questions from the articles, and try to answer them.
They will be in the lines of National Interest, Finance & Economy, Ecological Issues, Social Issues, Politics, Schemes, and Governance, etc.
SSC CHSL: Tier 3 Preparation Tips
This exam is of just qualifying nature. It is there just to test the basic computing skills of the candidates.
Hence candidates are advised to keep working on their typing speed. The required speed are
Data Entry Operators (DEO) - 8000 Key Depressions per hour on the computer.
PA and Court Clerks Candidates - English medium typing speed of 35 words per minute. (Only for those opting English Medium)
PA and Court Clerks Candidates - Hindi medium typing speed of 30 words per minute. (Only for those opting Hindi Medium)
Try to practice on a desktop, instead of a laptop since the aspirants are given a desktop for checking their typing/skill test.
SSC CHSL: Reference Books:
